Assateague Island is a 37-mile long barrier island located off the eastern coast of the Delmarva Peninsula facing the Atlantic Ocean. The northern two-thirds of the island is in Maryland while the southern third is in Virginia.
This was my first visit to Assateague Island. I was out from sunup until sundown eating peanut butter and crakers in the car and of course a thermus of coffee. I can not believe I had not made the time to visit something so close to home. I will be back. This way the end of October. Not the best view for ponies but I did see a couple. The wind was wicked! It near blew me over. The sand was hitting my face and I had to put the big camera lens away. Many wave images. I did try to limit my edit but it was not easy!
