Jordan - More Petra

On the other side of the Treasury, it is wide open with craved rock on each side. It is known as the ‘Rose City’ because of the rose-red colored sandstone hills. Petra houses numerous quarters, temples, and tombs and created water systems, making it possible to do gardening and farming in the arid region.

It was conquered by the Romans around 63-64 BC. And Petra experienced earthquakes between 363 AD and 551 AD. This damage caused new trading routes, and the city fell into ruin. Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt rediscovered it in 1812.

My gallery shares the Bab el Siq, Colonnaded Street in my gallery, the city’s heart, the Royal Tombs, Wadi Musa, Petra Theater and more of the slot canyon.
