The Donkey or Burro round-ups in portions of the park are planned. It is done to protect native wildlife and ecosystems and improve the park wilderness’s condition. They are not native to the California desert.
Several years ago, I was working on a story on Death Valley and went out with the cowboys for the round-up. It was very dusty from the helicopter and the horses. They would push the donkeys from the air, and then the cowboys would bring them into a holding area. I was all over the place, as you can tell.
I did not attempt to change the color of the slide images. It was an exciting experience. I wish I could adopt one. They are put up for adoption.
