Tijuana Estuary/Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge – North Coast Trail
The Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve is one of 30 Reserves in the United States. California Garden Magazine featured the reserve in a feature story, and we won Best in Journalism from the San Diego Press Club for this issue. Then, a Book called Eden needed photos of this area, so I went back to get more images.
The Tijuana River Estuary preserves, protects, and manages the natural and cultural resources of the Tijuana River EstuaryThis natural wetland habitat is so much like my marshes at home, except the native plants are so different. The one unusual experience is the helicopters—a Naval Landing Field, behind the reserve practice helicopter landings nearly daily.
